Marion Transit Services provides public transportation, including
transportation for the transportation disadvantaged, as well as
other sponsored and non-sponsored program recipients in Marion
County on an advance reservation basis.
Eligibilty
Residents who do not own or drive a vehicle and who do not have
family or friends to assist them have priority for transportation
service.
Note: Transportation can be for any age person
who is unable to transport themselves.
Service is provided according to the following needs as space
is available.
- Medical
- Life sustaining activities
- Education
- Work
- Business
- Recreational
Services Provided by Drivers...
Drivers will assist you from your doorway into the vehicle. You
will be assisted from the vehicle to the main entrance of your
destination. Most vans are wheelchair equipped.
Drivers cannot assist wheelchairs over more than one step or
curb. Wheelchairs must not be any wider than 31 inches. Oxygen
bottles may be transported if securely attached to the wheelchair
or in a small bottle that can be carried by the passenger.
Service Animals & Escorts
Certified animals are allowed to accompany riders; however, riders
must schedule service animals when reserving a trip. Riders needing
assistance may also have one escort if medically necessary. Be
sure to inform the reservationists so space can be reserved.

Scheduling Your Trip
You can reserve your ride with Marion Transit Services
as early as two weeks in advance, but not later than 72
hours in advance. On-going trips such
as dialysis can be set up on a permanent schedule.

Hours of Service
Transportation is available between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00
p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments should be made
between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.. This allows transportation
to pick you up at your home an hour prior to your
appointment, and return you home after your appointment
before the end of our business day.
NOTE: Residents living in outlying areas may need to
be ready 2 hours prior to appointment. Dialysis patients
with early, late or Saturday shifts can make special arrangements.
No service is available on major holidays

Trip Cancellations
If you will not be using your scheduled trip, please cancel
as soon as possible by calling (352)
620-3071.

Payment for Services
FARE: $1.00 ONE WAY
Cash or pass will be accepted for fare payment. Riders
must pay the fare upon entering the vehicle. Drivers do
not make change. Waivers for payment may be obtained prior
to the trip, for qualified individuals, by calling (352)
620-3071.

No-Shows
Riders who make reservations and are not available for
transportation within five minutes after driver arrives
to pick you up will be considered a "no-show."
After three no-shows, your transportation may be suspended
for 30 days.
